Japan Earthquake appeal

Despite the recent fundraising for Red Nose Day the school council decided they just couldn't ignore the recent tragedy in Japan and that we at Ffynnon Taf needed to do our bit to help. In a meeting the council decided upon organising an 'opposites day' to help raise money. Mr Worth did an assembly raising awareness of the terrible earthquake and tsunami. The next day all the children wore sometning opposite to school following letters that were drafted by the council and sent home. Hairstyles, socks, shoes, inside out jumpers and all sorts were wacky on the day. So far we have raised £162. This money will be sent to the Salvation Army who are helping out in Japan at this dreadful time for the people living there. Diolch yn fawr plant Ffynnon Taf.

World Book Day

The school council decided to link in our World Book Day celebrations with the charity PONT which our school has raised money for before - helping schools in Uganda, Africa. Children were asked to bring in a donation and a book from home to send to Africa. Well done councillors! We collected £160 for Pont and managed to fill 5 large boxes of books. Each book had a personal message inside the cover for the children in Africa to read when they recieve them. These have now been collected by Mrs Reynolds (our former headteacher) who is helping PONT with their charity work in her retirement. Congratulations too go to Jordan from class 6 who won a prize for his costume inspired by his favourite reading books!

School Council

The School council help the school to become a better place. The representatives will shared your class ideas witht he council so don't be afraid to talk to them about how we can make our school a better place. We look forward to hearing about the school council's targets for this year.

Sponsored mini marathon

Wow! A big thank you to all the friends and parents who sponsored the children for the 'healthy week' mini marathon. To date we have raised over £500 for the school council funds. Our next job is to decided on which new chairs to buy for the computer suite! Most thanks of all go to the children of Ffynnon Taf for all their sporting efforts...infants and juniors you are a fit lot and have done us proud! Da iawn!
